I have always played guitar well this year will be my 6th year and so far nothing has ever spiked my interest more. Guitar has always been there for me when I was needing to express my self. I have always been so focused on only one kind of guitar though, and that's always been just playing chords and doing a little bit of picking here and there. |But this project gave me the chance to expand my knowledge memorize all my notes not just a few, learn partial chords and to learn to solo off of chords and hopefully write an instrumental. I haven't had the chance to do this because I always thought that I would never be good enough to do this kind of guitar.
Well, last Monday I started to teach my self how to solo with partial chords and taught myself which chords are which and what note they make. I am using a guitar channel on YouTube called nail guitar. The man who creates this channel is my mentor for the semester. The type of guitar I am attempting to learn is called percussive guitar and you use every inch of your guitar to make music and good example of this is oceans by The John Butler Trio. I have to learn how to use the bass drum, high hat, and snare drum on my guitar which I will post a video soon to show you were those can be played on the guitar. There is also a thing called tapping which is the most hardest part and is what i will be working on the most.
In the future even after I am done this for bible I hope I can start writing multiple instrumentals and creating covers of popular songs using the percussive guitar techniques. I also want to say for to anyone who is wanting to give up on playing guitar because they think they will never be good enough stopping believing that lie and just jump write. Oh, and trust me it will be frustrating in the beginning but in the end its all worth it.
